We presently have a staff of
seventeen attorneys and provide a full range of legal services
to our clients. Our primary practice areas include:
PERSONAL INJURY
LITIGATION - including auto and motor cycle accidents,
asbestos disease, admiralty claims, lead poisoning, dog bites,
medical malpractice, products liability, slip and fall,
wrongful death, construction site accidents, lung cancer and
premises liability.
WORKERS' COMPENSATION
- representing claimants and employers in administrative
claims for industrial injuries in both state and federal
forums.
ESTATE PLANNING AND
ADMINISTRATION - planning estates from simple estates
requiring a simple will to complex estates involving wills and
trusts with an emphasis on the intricacies of federal and
state tax laws; dealing with elder law issues; planning
charitable giving vehicles; and, bringing a care and concern
for families in the administration of the probate of estates.
COMMERCIAL AND
RESIDENTIAL REAL ESTATE - including title searching,
drafting of contracts, commercial and residential leases and
other documents relating to real estate transactions;
involving documentation of condominium and dockominium
projects; and, commercial development including senior housing
and congregate care facilities; and, all other matters
required to close a transaction.
LAND USE -
including applications for variance, subdivision and site plan
approvals and zoning appeals to municipal agencies and the
Superior Courts; and permitting of projects before the
Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection and the
U.S. Corps of Army Engineers.
COMMERCIAL LOAN
DOCUMENTATION - drafting of loan agreements, notes,
mortgages, security instruments and related documents.
CONSTRUCTION -
including representation of a number of contractors and
handling contract drafting and review; construction
arbitration; construction litigation; negotiation of disputes;
and, dealing with environmental issues of construction
projects.
COMMERCIAL LITIGATION
- representing plaintiffs and defendants in various types of
commercial disputes including but not limited to foreclosures,
condemnation proceedings, collection matters and breaches of
contract.
BANKRUPTCY -
advising individuals and business creditors and debtors in the
bankruptcy process.
MUNICIPAL LAW -
including representation of the City of Groton and The City of
Groton Department of Utilities, the firm also represents the
Town of North Stonington, a number of Special Act
Municipalities, condominium and beach associations.
BUSINESS ORGANIZATIONS
- forming of business entities such as corporations,
partnerships, and limited liability companies; drafting
buy/sell agreements; and, negotiating corporate sales and
acquisitions, as well as construction contracts.
EMPLOYMENT LAW -
appearing in matters before the Commission on Human Rights and
Opportunities including claims of discrimination; advising
employers on employment issues; and, litigating wage and hour
issues.
ADMINISTRATIVE LAW
- representing clients before regulatory and administrative
agencies such as the Freedom of Information Commission, Labor
Department, Motor Vehicle Department, State Traffic
Commission, Department of Transportation, and the Liquor
Control Commission.
PROPERTY TAX APPEALS
- litigating municipal tax assessments of real estate; and
representing municipalities in the collection of municipal
taxes.
